Great place! We stopped for a late lunch on a Thursday and were seated right away. It was busy but there is plenty of seating inside and out on the patio. There are two parking areas one right along side of the restaurant and spots are tight. The other adjacent to that with some mad pot holes that can be a challenge to negotiate with a big vehicle. The service was fast and very pleasant. Restroom was worn but very clean. The food was fast and fresh. We order burgers, salad and soup of the day. All was very good.
I love this place & I’ve been local to Charleston for more than half of my life at this point… this is not your usual tourist destination — it’s a beloved establishment by visitors and local residents alike! Outstanding service, phenomenal food and the atmosphere is the perfect embodiment of Edgar Allan Poe’s world. Highly recommend! P.S. I had Annabel Lee burger with crabcake and beef patties, a tavern salad and soup of the day that was corn chowder. Great beer selection always.
This was a great spot for lunch while visiting Sullivan’s Island. I had the shrimp quesadillas and they were perfection… I will definitely make this place a routine stop in future visits.
Went to Sullivan's Island for the day by myself. Got there around 530 and was immediately seated inside. The service was very friendly and fast. The fries were amazing and the veggie burger was very good. I went because of the Poe theme and enjoyed my time. Parking looked limited but I just walked from the beach. It was the middle of May so not a big wait. I hear it can get crowded.
If you are on Sullivan's Island, I recommend eating at Poe's Tavern. This restaurant has a cool vibe and a nice selection of craft beers on tap. I had the Beef Tell-Tale Heart burger. It has a fried egg with bacon and cheddar cheese. It was so delicious. The fries were really good, too. I look forward to coming back.

I’m giving Poe’s Tavern a full 5 stars simply because it made me feel good to be there. Sometimes, it’s not just about the meal – it’s about how a place makes you feel. Always love this place, food is amazing but not overly complicated and staff is efficient and friendly! Poe himself is somehere tripping on the original morphine and dreading going back to West Point! LOL but for real, so good!!!!
Was a nice day, so we sat outside. Fun place and good service! Great burger menu! You can sub any for chicken or veggie as well. We shared the nachos, which was delish! My mother said her burger was very tasty! Would recommend!
